The Siksha Mitra Scholarship for Class 9 is a special initiative to provide financial aid to girls in India. Launched by Hand in Hand India’s international NGO, scholarship will help financially backward female students to continue their education.
About Hand in Hand
Hand in Hand NGO initiated its work in the year 2002 in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, often referred to as the silk city of India. Behind the looms, they discovered nimble fingers of children working tirelessly to produce intricate weaves. Children were traditionally seen as a cheap source of labor, and families with no permanent income often sent their children to work as bonded laborers in the weaving industry. In the early days, evening schools were established for these children. The initial focus was on removing them from the labor force. To ensure the children stayed in school, the vision was broadened to encompass the family, addressing issues of community health, skills development, and eventually, job creation. Today, Hand in Hand NGO is a pan-Indian organization rewriting the story of rural India by alleviating poverty and creating jobs. The journey has spanned 18 States and seven countries.
