Moreover, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) is an examination administered by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, a private board following the guidelines of the New Education Policy 2020 (India). It is conducted in English and aims to offer a comprehensive general education.
Additionally, ICSE ensures that responsible schools affiliated with it can present themselves effectively in their respective states or territories. Furthermore, the National Admissions and Accreditation agency of the UK, UCAS (Universities and College Admission Services), acknowledges ICSE as equivalent to the Higher School qualification of the University of Scotland.
ICSE, renowned for its extensive curriculum, places a significant emphasis on the English language, as well as a wide range of subjects encompassing language, arts, commerce, and science. The instruction in ICSE is exclusively in English, allowing students to develop a strong command of the language and literature right from kindergarten. This proficiency proves invaluable as it equips ICSE graduates with the ability to write succinctly in English, facilitating success in competitive exams such as IELTS and TOEFL.
Notably, ICSE has consistently held a position as one of the foremost educational boards globally, attributed to its rigorous syllabus.
ICSE English:
There will be two papers:
Paper 1: English Language;
Paper 2: Literature in English.
Each of these papers will be of two hours duration.
Paper 1: English Language (80 Marks)

PAPER 1 – ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Candidates must attempt all questions.
1: Candidates must compose a piece of approximately 300–350 words chosen from a selection of subjects.
2: You must write a letter choosing between two subjects, employing either a formal or an informal style.
3: Everybody will receive a specific situation and must: (a) Compose the text for a notice based on provided instructions. (b) Draft an e-mail with the same content as the notice.
Question 4: They will receive an unseen prose passage of about 450 words.
Question 5: The exam will include several short answer questions to evaluate the candidates’ understanding of functional grammar, structure, and language usage.
