ISRO Invites Applications for Online Courses 2024

The Indian Space Research Organization is inviting applications from students for the online courses launched by it.

The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) an educational body under the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is offering a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled “ Overview of Space Exploration” for school students.


The program is designed to ignite the passion for space science and technology among young minds by offering a unique glimpse into India’s vibrant space program and its significant contributions to global space exploration.

As one of the leading spacefaring nations, India boasts of its sophisticated space program that symbolizes its technological prowess and growing global influence. ISRO’s impressive track record includes 124 spacecraft missions, 96 launch vehicle missions, 17 student satellites, 6 re-entry missions, and the launch of 432 foreign satellites. 

The data and insights generated from these missions have been crucial for numerous developmental activities, including earth observation, satellite communications, navigation, weather forecasting, telemedicine, environmental and climate studies, agriculture, food and water security, and disaster management.

About the MOOC program

The “Overview of Space Exploration” MOOC is a free course open to students aged 10 years and above. Students from India and abroad. The course aims to impart knowledge and awareness about various aspects of space science and technology.

The course will be delivered by eminent space scientists of India, and provide an unparalleled opportunity for the younger generation to delve into the fascinating world of space technology through the technical sessions.

Dates for the Online Courses

  • Course Duration: June 05 to August 04, 2024
  • Last Date of Registration: July 20, 2024
  • Mode of Learning: Online
  • Course Language: English
  • Certificate: Participants will receive a Course Participation Certificate from IIRS ISRO. Based on their attendance in technical sessions and performance in the online quiz assessment. A minimum score of 60% on the quiz and 70% attendance in video sessions is required to earn the certificate.

How to participate in the ISRO online courses?
  • Visit the registration link for the course and apply. Upon successful registration and account activation, you will receive your login credentials. This will be for the E-CLASS Learning Management System (LMS) via email.
  • Log in to the E-CLASS LMS to access daily technical sessions. Attendance will be marked based on video watch logs.
  • After completing the video sessions, participate in the quiz assessments available in the E-CLASS LMS.
  • Students can also engage with fellow learners and post questions or doubts in the discussion forum available on the LMS.
  • Submit your course feedback before generating your participation certificate.

By participating in this course, young learners will gain valuable insights from India’s leading space scientists, setting the stage for future innovations and advancements.
