Indhira Gandhi National Open University or IGNOU has rolled out BEd forms. The exam will be conducted for two hours for BEd.
Indira Gandhi National Open University, known as IGNOU, is a public distance learning university located in New Delhi, India. Named after the former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, the university was established in 1985. With a budget of ₹20 million, after the Parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985). IGNOU is run by the central government of India. And with a total active enrollment of over 4 million students, it is the largest university in the world.
IGNOU was founded to serve the Indian population by means of distance and open education. Providing quality higher education opportunities to all segments of society. It also aims to encourage, coordinate and set standards for distance and open education. And to strengthen the human resources of India through education. Apart from teaching and research, extension and training form the mainstay of its academic activities. It also acts as a national resource center, and serves to promote and maintain standards of distance education in India. IGNOU hosts the Secretariats of the SAARC Consortium on Open and Distance Learning (SACODiL) and the Global Mega Universities Network (GMUNET), initially supported by UNESCO.
About the exam for which IGNOU has rolled out BEd Forms:
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is inviting online applications for admission to three programmes through an entrance test. The three programmes are Bachelor of Education (BEd), Post Basic BSc Nursing [BScN(PB)] and PhD.
Interested candidates have time till December 31, 2023 to apply for these programmes. Admissions will be conducted through an entrance test, which is scheduled to be conducted on January 7, 2024. The exam will be conducted for two hours for BEd, 2.5 hours for BSc Nursing and three hours for PhD candidates.
Candidates should remember that no application forms in hard copy will be accepted. All registrations must be completed online through the University website — ignou.ac.in. The application fee is Rs 1000.
To be eligible for BEd, candidates should have at least 50 per cent marks either in the bachelor’s degree and /or in the master’s degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Humanities. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with 55 per cent marks or any other qualifications equivalent. There is no age bar for admission.
The BSc Nursing programme will be taught in English, and the minimum duration of the course is three years, and six years maximum.
