About the Grant
Since 2018, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany has been offering research grants to encourage innovative research in areas of significant future importance. For 2024, the available grants include:
- Discovery strategies for molecular glue degraders and other protein-protein-interaction stabilizers: 1 grant up to 100,000 Euros/year for up to 3 years, with potential further collaboration.
- Augmented Reality Digital Twin: 1 grant up to 120,000 Euros for 1 year, with potential further collaboration.
- AI-Driven Drug Discovery: Up to 3 grants comprising AIDDISON software licenses for one year, with potential further collaboration.

This program is open to scientists at all career stages affiliated with research-based institutions, universities, or companies.
How to Apply for Research Grant
Submission Deadline: 31 August 2024
- Stage One: Submit an application with non-confidential information. Applicants can apply for multiple grants or categories. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal under confidentiality and join a deep-dive workshop.
- Stage Two: Finalists submit full proposals and collaborate with our managers and scientists to optimize their projects. Deep-dive workshops are scheduled for November 2024, with notifications in October.
- Stage Three: Winners enter the Research Grant funding phase, involving regular meetings with our scientists and collaboration agreements to enable project start and payout.
