AICTE Post-Doctoral Fellowship: Unemployed PhD Holders

Eligibility Criteria

For Scholars

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in disciplines such as Engineering, Technology, Management, Design, Planning, Applied Arts, Hotel Management, Catering Technology, Computer Application, Applied Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Areas.
  • Marks Requirement: General category candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at PG/UG level. A relaxation of 5% is provided for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PWD candidates.
  • Employment Status: Only unemployed candidates are eligible.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should be below 35 years of age. Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST/Women/Physically Challenged candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. The maximum age relaxation for candidates falling into multiple categories is 5 years.
  • Supervisor Requirement: Candidates must identify a supervisor from an AICTE-approved University/Institute and obtain consent for mentorship. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the research center is mandatory.
  • Fellowship Tenure: The fellowship can only be availed once in a candidate’s career.

For Supervisors:

  • Must be an approved Ph.D. guide at a university.
  • Should not be superannuated and must be a regular faculty member or professor of practice.
  • Must hold a Ph.D. degree.

Research Centres:

  • Must be an AICTE-approved University/Institution.

Emoluments and Allowances

  • Fellowship: Rs. 65,000 per month.
  • Contingency Grant: Rs. 50,000 per year for research-related expenditures.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): Not entitled.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): Hostel accommodation, if available, will be provided. If not, HRA will be as per Central Government norms.
  • Medical Assistance: No fixed medical assistance, but scholars may use the medical facilities available at their institution.

Application Process
  • Applications are accepted throughout the year via the AICTE portal.
  • A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the proposed research center is required.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
Selection Procedure
  • The AICTE evaluation committee assesses the research proposal, Ph.D. accomplishments, and the professional standing of the supervisor and institution.
