Suborno Jayanti Scholarship-2022

New Delhi, 28 February 2022: Recently, the High Commission of India in Dhaka formally launched the Suborno Jayanti Scholarship website. Within this scholarship program, 1000 Suborno Jayanti Scholarships (SJS) for students including 500 seats by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and 500 for officials under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) were announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visited Bangladesh on 26-27 March, 2021. This step was taken up to share openings for education and professionalism in India for Bangladeshi citizens.

Subhorno Jayanti Scholarship: Web Portal

• To implement the objectives of the Subhorno Jayanti Scholarship, a dedicated web portal for this scholarship was launched on 24 February 2022.
• The newly opened website will guide applicants to both the ICCR and ITEC sites. For registration, candidates are required to visit the registration portal.
• These scholarships aim to attract the best and brightest talents and provide opportunities to promote synergies between India and Bangladesh under India’s New Education Policy.

Note: 

• The ICCR scholarships were founded in 1950 by India’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
• The aim of this scholarship is to foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries.
• In 2021, a total of 267 Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships were availed by Bangladeshi students in various fields of Engineering, Science, Arts, Law, and Culture at UG, PG and PhD levels in premier government educational institutes of India like Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NIT), National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), and Rabindra Bharati University.
• The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program was launched in 1964. The aim of ITEC is to encourage sharing of knowledge and expertise between professionals in India and other countries.
• A total of 285 Bangladeshi professionals enrolled for e- Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (e-ITEC) courses in 2021-22 as no physical courses were held due to the pandemic.
