TISS PhD Admission Opening for 2024 academic year. The total number of seats available for all the PhD programs is 142.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a Deemed to be University funded by the Ministry of Education through UGC, has announced PhD admissions for the Academic Year 2024. The PhD programs are available across its Mumbai Campus and Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Tuljapur Off-Campuses.
The total number of seats available for all the PhD programs is 142.
PhD Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must clear the National Eligibility Test (NET) for admission to the PhD programs.
- Candidates who clear UGC-NET 2024 in any of the following categories are eligible to apply:
- Category 1: Eligible for admission to PhD with JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category 2: Eligible for admission to PhD without JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor.
- Category 3: Eligible for admission to the PhD program only, without JRF or eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor.
- For admission to the PhD program in Social Work, candidates must clear UGC-NET 2024 in the subject of Social Work.
- For admission to the PhD program in Applied Psychology, candidates must clear UGC-NET 2024 in the subject of Psychology.
- For admission to the PhD program in Education, candidates must clear UGC-NET 2024 in any Social Science discipline or allied field, preferably in the subject of Education.
- For admission to the remaining PhD programs (Serial Numbers 4 to 17), candidates must clear UGC-NET 2024 in any Social Science discipline or allied field.
- Candidates with a valid JRF prior to 2024 in Social Work or Psychology are eligible to apply for the PhD programs in Social Work and Applied Psychology, respectively. Candidates with a valid JRF prior to 2024 in any Social Science discipline or allied field, preferably in Education, are eligible to apply for the PhD program in Education.
- Candidates who have only cleared NET prior to 2024 are not eligible to apply for any of the PhD programs.
