Research Studentship Scholarship: Goa University

Goa University is offering a Research Studentship Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25. This opportunity is available to Ph.D. research scholars enrolled in the University Schools who are not recipients of any other scholarships or studentships.

How to Apply for Goa University Research Studentship Scholarship

Research scholars must submit their applications in the prescribed form, which can be found on the Goa University website or in the respective discipline/programme of the School. The application should include certified copies of required documents, duly recommended and forwarded by their Research Guide to the Directorate Office.

Eligibility Criteria for Research Studentship

1. Academic Qualifications: Full-time research scholars must have at least a second-class degree at the graduation level and a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade from Goa University or any other recognized university. Their Ph.D. registration must be confirmed.
2. Scholarship Status: Only research scholars whose Ph.D. registration is confirmed are eligible. Scholars holding any other scholarship are not eligible.

Conditions of the Research Studentship

• Applicants should not have completed more than eight terms on the date of application.
• Unsatisfactory six-monthly reports may lead to termination of the studentship.
• Candidates must submit a declaration of unemployment after the issue of the sanction order.
• Applications will be screened by the Research Studentship Committee, and its decision will be final.
• Scholars must sign the attendance register available in the respective discipline/programme office twice a day.

Research Studentship Duration and Renewal

• The fellowship is ordinarily for two years from the date of award. It may be extended to a third year upon recommendation by the Committee and Vice-Chancellor’s approval, subject to significant research progress and publication in a UGC CARE list journal.
• Scholars must apply for fellowship continuation during the second year with their Research Guide’s recommendation based on their research work.
• Scholars who terminate their Ph.D. registration or cannot complete the programme must return the fellowship amount. An undertaking to this effect is required.
• Scholars are entitled to 30 days of leave per academic year, with leave beyond 30 days being without a scholarship.
