The School of Basic Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar is organizing an AICTE Sponsored Online Course on Electrodynamics for Engineers from June 14 to 18, 2021.

IIT Bhubaneswar, established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 came into existence on 22nd July 2008. The Institute strives to offer the best engineering education with unmatched novelties in the curriculum.

Course Objectives

The course aims to introduce concepts of electromagnetism followed by several topics on electromagnetic waves and radiations along with laboratory demonstration of the core concepts. In general, the following areas will be covered:

• Electrostatics and Magnetostatics
• Maxwell’s equations
• Electromagnetic waves in different media
• EM waves in waveguides
• Fields and radiation due to a moving charge
• Antennas and antenna arrays
• Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter

Course Content

The following aspects of Electrodynamics will be Covered in detail:

1. Introduction to electrostatics and magnetostatics
2. Maxwell’s equations for time-varying fields
3. Propagation of electromagnetic waves in conducting and non-conducting medium;
4. Waveguides and resonant cavity
5. Radiation and radiating systems
6. Fields and radiation from an accelerated charge
7. Dispersion theory
8. Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter
9. Scattering and diffraction

Registration Fees

• Faculty of AICTE approved Engineering College (Within 30): No Course fees; They need to deposit DD of
  Rs. 500/- in favor of CEP, IIT Bhubaneswar
• Faculty of AICTE approved Engineering College: Rs. 1000/-
• Faculty of Non–AICTE approved Engg Colleges/ Scientist Research Scholar/ Engineer/ Other: Rs.1500/-
