National Means Cum Merit School Student Scholarship has issued scholarships for School Students.
Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education sponsors National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme NMMSS 2023-24. Also, under this scheme, it is proposed to award 1,00,000 scholarships to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum from all sources at the time of selection of awardees for scholarship. Last date for application submission is 30th November 2023.
Eligibility of National Means Cum Merit School Student Scholarship
Students belonging to any community studying in Government, Government-aided or local body schools. And fulfilling the Scheme guidelines are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Students whose parental income from all sources is not more than Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum are eligible to avail the scholarship.
However, the students must have scored minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Class VII. This for appearing in selection test for award of scholarship (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Scheme is online and one can apply for fresh or renewal Scholarship.
Online submission/registration of applications on the (NSP) for scholarships for the project year 2023-24 commenced on 01st October 2023.
‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ implemented by the Ministry of Education for school students of Class IX to Class XII. They award scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections. This to reduce their dropout at Class VIII and encourage them to continue their education at the secondary stage.
They will award one lakh fresh scholarships to selected students from Class IX each year. Upon their continuation/renewal in Classes X to XII for students studying in State Government, Government-aided, and local body schools. The amount of the scholarship is ₹12000 per annum.
The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is boarded on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is a one-stop platform for scholarship schemes given to students. NMMSS scholarships are disbursed directly into the bank accounts of selected students. Moreover, by electronic transfer through the Public Financial Management System following DBT mode. This is a Central Sector Scheme.
