Eligibility for Raman Research Fellowship

1. Current Position: The candidate must be a regular scientist at CSIR.
2. Qualifications: High academic qualifications including a postgraduate degree in Engineering or a PhD in Natural Science.
3. Experience: At least 5 years of service in CSIR as of the application deadline.
4. Age: The candidate should not be more than 45 years old as of July 31, 2024.
5. Research Contribution: The applicant must have made commendable contributions to research or innovation in the proposed area, meeting international standards.
6. Purpose of Fellowship: The fellowship should aim to enhance skills and capabilities, not for training or using facilities at the host institute.

Selection Process for Raman Research Fellowship

1. Interview: Candidates are selected through an interview by a duly constituted Selection Committee.
2. Acceptance Letter: At the interview, candidates must present a letter of acceptance from the host institution, approved by the Director of the Institutes.
3. Presentation: Candidates can make a PowerPoint presentation (up to 5 slides) for 7 minutes, detailing their current research activities and proposed research work.

Terms & Conditions of Raman Research Fellowship

1. Designation: ‘Raman Research Fellows’.
2. Duration: The fellowship lasts for 2 to 6 months, with a focus on research and training in specific priority areas identified by CSIR.
3. Non-deviation: Fellows must stick to their proposed research topics and not change their place of work without prior CSIR approval.
4. Extension: Generally, extensions beyond the specified period are not granted unless justified by exceptional circumstances.
5. Salary and Benefits: The laboratory/institute to which the Fellow belongs will continue to handle salary, leave, medical, gratuity, GPF, and pension during the fellowship period.
6. Travel: Economy class air passage to and from the host institute.
7. Insurance: Fellows must obtain medical insurance from an Indian company, covered by the contingency amount granted.
8. Fees: No fees
9. IPR Protection: Protect any intellectual property rights generated.
10. Bond: Fellows must execute a bond to serve their institute for three years upon returning from the fellowship.
11. Legal Action: If a Fellow does not return to India or accepts overseas employment post-fellowship, their institute will recover the entire expenditure and pursue legal action if necessary.
12. Full-time Commitment: Fellows must fully commit to their research specialization during the fellowship and not seek other employment without CSIR’s permission.
13. Reporting: Fellows must submit quarterly progress reports and a final report upon returning. These reports should include a critical appraisal by the Director of the Institute.
14. Expenditure Statement: A detailed expenditure statement, certified by the F&AO of the laboratory, must accompany the final report.
15. Commencement: December 31, 2024.
